HIATUS/QUITTING?

Hey followers! I think tumblr as social media might be done for me, at least on my personal blog. I’m still keeping this bad boy up for personal reference but I’ll probably not be updating it at all, really.

I might password protect it at some point, if you want the password, just message me.

My art blog @madygcomics will still be up and running, however, if you want to follow me there.

Thanks for following!

I’m still obviously posting my pieces on here, but I’ll be updating my twitter far more frequently.

Twitter is the platform that many artists are choosing nowadays because it provides us with an added level of exposure and interactivity with our followers - not to mention all the issues with the tumblr staff.

SO YEAH, it’d be a good idea to follow me on there (@madygcomics), as well as any other artists you might follow. Cross-platform following helps all of us greatly, and it’s a free and easy way to support your favorite artists!

Thanks everybody!!! You all are the absolute best and are the reason why I keep on going and making more crazy crap!

Why lush is so expensive

neopets-slut

Please remember that Lush is a fair trade company. This means that all they pay ALL of their workers a livable amount, and don’t take advantage of workers and harvesters in third world countries like many brands do. They test none of their products on animals as well.

Please keep these things in mind! Just know there is a reason that they cannot sell their bath bombs for 99 cents each. Doing so would mean that hard workers are being under paid.

whatsanapocalae

other reasons it’s expensive:

  • constant checks on their resources - They will drop any company that they are partnered with if they learn that they are gathering ingredients in an inhumane way, harming the environment, or puts their people at risk
  • charity work - if you’ve ever heard of Charity Pot, it’s called such because 100% of the cost (not proceeds) go to charity. It’s not what’s left over after they’ve paid the workers or bought the ingredients, it’s every single cent.
  • kitchens instead of factories - They dont have a big warehouse of stock. They don’t have processing plants. What they have are buildings with industrial kitchen equipment, where all products are made by hand.
  • fighting animal testing - a lot of companies say that they dont do animal testing, but they don’t do anything to prevent animal testing and may use ingredients sourced from animal testing. Lush leads protests, creates bills, and spreads information, as well as only work with those who don’t use animal testing, in order to fight the system
  • helping their sources- If they find out that something is wrong with one of their companies, they’ll do what they can to fix it. That means, if something is broken, they will fix it, even though it’s just someone that they’re partnered with.
  • delicate products - everything they sell has an expiration date, because it’s all made out of fresh ingredients and they use as little preservatives and unnatural things as they can. That and bathbombs break, all the time. They can’t sell it if it has any damage larger than a dime.

Wildly popular Japanese artist Kaneoya Sachiko is gearing up for her first North American release.

The Art of Kaneoya Sachiko has just gone live on Kickstarter, with a 15-day barnstormer of a funding period. It’s on a mission to greenlight a 224-page volume of work, hand-selected by the artist herself, and spanning over a decade of her career. Iron Circus Comics, the publisher famed for earning over one million dollars on Kickstarter over the span of 15 comic and comics-related projects, has chosen Kaneoya as the subject of their first art book release ever, and are promising a true object d'art in return for backer cash: gloss, reticulation, and gilded edges, along with an as-yet-to-be-announced bonus exclusively for Kickstarter backers.

The book contains tons of previously-unpublished work, plus a foreword from Kaneoya herself. Whether you’re a longtime fan of this artist’s compelling and provocative output, or brand-new to her uniquely mesmerizing work, there’s a lot to see here.

Check it out now on Kickstarter! Miss the project’s ultra-brief two-week funding period, and you’ll have to wait for the book to hit stores in September… and miss out on those mysterious stretch goals.

If you’re a creator and you needed to hear this today:

mypoorfaves

You have no idea how many people lurk on your work. No idea how many times people go back to revisit your work. How big they smile when they simply think about your work. How fast their heart beats, how excited they get when they see that you posted something.

People are shy with their feedback. Sometimes it’s because they’re simply shy. Other times it’s because they assume you already know how great and talented you are. Could be both.

My point is, even if you barely have any likes or reblogs, don’t get discouraged. You have a lot of silent fans, but they are still your fans. Keep on creating. Because there is always someone out there who will love what you have made.
